Programme for Sunday 27th September 2015

As we start, what is for us our new season, I would like to thank some long standing members who have retired from the orchestra during 2014/2015, Ted and Dorothy Williams and Ann and Tom Wade.

Ted started with the orchestra playing oboe and after many years graduated to being our conductor
where he excelled himself until deciding that he had had enough and moved onto 'second triangle' as he called it whilst also doing an amusing introduction to the musical items.

Dorothy began many years ago in the string section before keeping us in time (and deafening the woodwind) on the Timpani and other percussion instruments.

Anne first joined us as a teenager and with her usual quiet, calm manner has been an outstanding violinist and later leader of the orchestra for many years until handing over the post to Roy.

Tom, a gifted pianist has been our orchestral accompanist for a great many years, also accompanying many of the orchestra during our talent pieces in July, especially myself often having to invent the piano accompaniment as he played!.

We have been very blessed to have had the talent of these wonderful people and we will sorely miss their skill, dedication and company but wish them well in their retirement.
